Christie Clinic announces 2019 Physician of the Year

Christie Clinic is pleased to announce the recipient of its ninth annual Physician of the Year Award.

Dr. Steven Damore, from the Department of Radiation Oncology, on received the 2019 Physician of the Year Award. The Physician of the Year award was voted upon by Christie Clinic team members, and was awarded to Damore Sept. 18 at the Christie Clinic Team Member Appreciation Breakfast at the I Hotel in Champaign.

Damore has been a part of the Christie Clinic family since 2016. As a radiation oncologist who has practiced for over 20 years, Damore treats all adult cancers and has specialty experience with stereotactic treatment for brain, spinal, lung and gastrointestinal cancers. He is an integral member of the cancer services tumor board.

He became a radiation oncologist because he enjoys the challenges inherent in the treatment of cancer and because the treatment patients receive can make such a difference in their lives, especially when it is delivered with respect, care and compassion. For him, the most important part of being a physician, is the interaction with the patients and their families and helping them as they go through their journey.
