Carle receives Magnet designation
Carle has learned that it received its third Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). ANCC grants the recognition to healthcare organizations that meet high standards for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovation in nursing.
Only 8 percent of U.S. healthcare organizations achieve Magnet status, plus:
- Only 11 of 45 Illinois Magnet-designated organizations achieved a third designation.
- Of 490 Magnet organizations in the world, only 213 achieved a third designation.
- Magnet organizations see greater patient satisfaction and quality outcomes.
Carle Foundation Hospital first achieved the designation in 2009. In its 2015 review, ANCC assessed Carle as an integrated health system, looking at the hospital and several outpatient clinics.
In addition to serving today’s patients well, Magnet designation attracts high-quality nurses, and its best practices help keep them. Carle’s nurse turnover rate is below the national average.
